Im really excited that my beloved Yankees are getting ready to play for the American League Championship against the Texas Rangers. Im also excited over the fact that the Rangers are going to pitch Cliff Lee in games 3 and 7 instead of 1 – 4 and 7. What Im not excited about is that fact that AJ Burnett is pitching in game 4.

This of course I put the blame on Joe Girardi. Why? Because Cliff Lee’s career post season numbers are as follows:

6 wins, 0 loses
1.4-something ERA
56 innings pitched
6 walks

Cliff Lee dominates the Yankees. Let me reiterate that. Cliff Lee DOMINATES the Yankees.

AJ Burnett, not so much. He was the 3rd worst pitcher in the majors this season. So theres about a 98% chance that the Yankees will lose game 3. Let me play Devils Advocate. CC wins game 1. Hughes loses game 2. Lee wins game 3. AJ true to form gets his ass handed to him in game 4 because what are the odds that he can beat a stacked Rangers lineup? Slim to none. Now the Yankees are down 3 games to 1 with game 5 in Arlington. Not good.

Heres what I think, no scratch that, this what Joe Girardi has to do.

Give Andy Petitte who is scheduled to start in game 3 an extra days rest and start AJ instead. You’re not conceding game 3 if that’s what you’re thinking. It would be conceding it if you dont start A-Rod, Jeter and Texeria. The Yankees need to win this series in 5 or less. You do not want to see Cliff Lee in a game 7. So help me God if the Yankees are down 2-1 when game 4 rolls around and Girardi sends AJ out there instead of CC. I will drive my 1984 Subaru with the “Vote for Dukakis” bumper sticker on it all the way to the Bronx and personally help Girardi pack his shit. And then I’ll drive his shit back to Chicago and deliver it to Wrigleyville.

Oh, and Rangers fans, that claw shit is gay.
