LinSanity is going a bit outta control. David Stern wants him at the All-Star weekend. He doesnt even care what he’s there for as long as he’s there. They might just ask him to sing the National Anthem as long as he’s on TV. Next thing you know the New York media is going to ask him to run for Mayor of the city.
Me on the other hand am not a beLINver (corny pun I know, but no worst than what I’ve seen on Twitter). So I’ve come up with ten point guards who today, right this minute are better than Jeremy “37 Turnovers In 7 Games” Lin and Im not even going to mention D Rose, CP3 or Westbrook because lets be real… when those guys go head-to-head vs Lin its just not going to be fair.
In random order
10. UNC’s Kendall Marshall
Yup, a college sophmore is better than Lin. This kid handles the rock and passes like a collegiate Jason Kidd. He’s averaging 10 assists a game and just dropped 16 dimes on Maryland. And quite honestly, I like UNC’s chances against the Knicks with Marshall leading the way. Watch him play and you’ll agree.
9. Raptors Jose Calderon
No you dont agree? Well then why did Calderon drop 25 with 9 assist and 7 boards against Lin?
8. Golden State’s Steph Curry
Not an elite point guard, but I want to find the Knick fan that is going to try defend Lin against Curry. The dude is a cold-blooded shooter. Averaging almost 19 points a game, he hasn’t yet developed into your prototypical point guard. And if he was playing on a larger market team would be as big-a-star as Lin. Example: His Final 4 run.
7. Denver’s Raymond Felton
Hard-nosed, fast, smart, plays defense. Oh, doesnt turn the ball over much either. Better than Lin.
6. Tony Parker
Another guy who if he was in New York he’s be a bigger star. The guy is on his way to the Hall of Fame… for banging hot chicks.
5. Rajon Rondo
Rondo has a bit of an attitude and I know when the Celtics play the Knicks Rondo is going to be out to prove that he’s the second best point guard in the East (Derrick Rose the obvious top dog). Rondo averages 11 assists a game and scores when ever he feels like it.
4. The Nets Deron Williams
Yes D-Will is a prima donna, but who would you rather have on your team: Williams or Lin? You can take Lin and give me Williams.
3. Chicago’s Back Up Guard CJ Watson
The quite storm can fill it up and d-up and point gaurd in the league. The guy gets starts minutes along side Derrick Rose now that Rip Hamilton is hurt. Im willing to bet that he can start on 90% of the teams in the NBA.
2. A Hurt Chauncey Billups
The guy has a torn left Achilles tendon and he’s still better than Jeremy Lin.
1. The Heat’s Mario Chalmers
You’re gonna say that Mario plays with the big 3. Im going to say Mario is averaging only 1 turnover a game.
