As a baseball fan I always wonder why the Pittsburgh Pirates suck year in and out.  Its not like they’re playing in the AL East.  Its the NL Central for crying out loud.  I can fix that franchise and return them to respectability. Im not saying that I can get them back to the World Series, Im just saying that I can get them to actually win games. Heres now:

• Sign BJ Ryan.  The Blue Jays just let him go and outside of 5 or 6 teams, who doesnt need a veteran closer?
• Trade for Dontrell Willis.  Experience and no pressure pitching for the Pirates.  He’ll excel just going out there and just throwing.  Plus he can hit.
• Keep Freddie Sanchez and Jack Wilson.  Sanchez a gamer and Wilson show passion for the game.
• Trade Lastings Milledge for some infield dirt.
• Hire Davey Johnson.  He’s a great manager.

Finally, 2010 will have a lot of really good solid players who will be free agents.  Open the check book and make serious runs at these guys:

1. Victor Martinez – catcher from Cleveland
2. Matt Holliday – out fielder from Oakland
3. John Lackey – pitcher from the Angels

You should be able to get one maybe two of those guys and then your looking at a team that can complete in that shitty NL Central.
